About the Play
Shakespeare’s first comedy.
Two best friends, Valentine and Proteus, travel to Milan and both fall for the same woman: Silvia. She loves Valentine; Proteus pursues her anyway, despite his girlfriend back home. Betrayal, apologies, and reconciliation follow, in true early-Shakespeare comedic fashion, before both couples end up married.
This production was built from the ground up in just 14 weeks, with a cast of actors workshopping the play from page to stage. Focused on the verse, the prose, and the story itself, it runs around 90 minutes, with a tailor-made soundscape.
