About the Evening
Come join us to spend an evening at Mike’s Badhuistheater and celebrate the holiday with Slovak and Czech snacks, drinks, a short film screening, a discussion with interesting speakers, art, and come meet fellow Slovaks, Czechs, friends, families and any plus ones!
Don’t get discouraged: even though we discuss the history of the Czechoslovak Velvet Revolution (and combine it with fun and drinks), we want to open up this event to our Dutch and international friends, so the event will be held (mostly) in English.
After last year’s successful but busy programme, we will dedicate more time this year to connections and networking.

The Velvet Revolution marks a turning point in the modern history of the Slovak and the Czech nations and the former Czechoslovak state. After more than 40 years, it brought the fall of the communist regime and opened the way for the transformation of totalitarian Czechoslovakia into a legal and democratic state with a pluralist party political environment.
